Why are we consulting?

The current Dementia Support Service contract ends on the 30/11/16.  An open tender is planned to select a new provider for this service.

The aim of the service is improve quality of life of a person living with dementia and carers and enable them to continue to live independently in the community.  The service currently includes

  • a main support service for information, advice, signposting and on-going support;
  • briefings and short courses to equip carers with skills
  • self help groups, community café’s and other community activities to provide information and peer support.

In addition a hospital service provides information and advice to support people with dementia in hospital and when they leave. 

The consultation will gather user and stakeholder comments on the current service and the outcomes and priorities for the new service.
