Proposal to remove the enhanced resource provisions from Central Community Nursery School and Lord Street Nursery School from 1 April 2020
|Status:||Closed - for details on the decision please see the Decision notice on Central and Lord Street nursery or visit the You Said We Did section of our website.|
|Why are we consulting?||
Derby City Council is consulting on proposals to remove the enhanced resource provisions from Central Community Nursery School and Lord Street Nursery School from 1 April 2020.
The proposal is to reallocate enhanced resource funding currently allocated to Central Community Nursery School and Lord Street Nursery School to a single Early Years Inclusion Fund which Maintained Mainstream settings and Private, Voluntary and Independent (PVI) settings can make applications to in order to provide additional support for early years children with SEND across the city. The aim is to help ensure that parents and carers of children with SEND have a wider choice of early years options available and are able to access local childcare places.
There will be no reduction or increase in the overall level of SEND early years funding as a result of the proposal.
Following a period of transition planning, proposals are now in place to carefully manage the decommissioning of the enhanced resource provisions at Central Community Nursery School and Lord Street Nursery School.
It is important to note that the proposed removal of the enhanced resource provisions from the two nurseries will not displace any children and overall early years SEND funding will not be reduced as a result of the funding reallocation.
In accordance with The School Organisation (Prescribed Alterations to Maintained Schools) (England) Regulations 2013, local authorities are required to carry out a statutory process to formally remove enahnced resource provisions from maintained mainstream schools. This Consultation is the statutory four week representation period, which forms part of the statutory process.
