Just over 6,000 people work for the Council, making it one of the largest employers in the city.

The jobs they do range from social work to teaching Derby's children to engineering, lawyers, surveyors and environmental health officers.

The Council is currently split into three directorates and is led by Acting Chief Executive Christine Durrant.

Communities and Place 

Communities and Place manage many of the services most visible to the public, such as waste collection and recycling, highways and traffic, leisure, culture, parks, environmental protection, community safety, licensing and regulation, planning and the regeneration and future development of Derby.
