The Mayor has a civic duty to represent and promote the City of Derby. The Mayor is always keen to help support events and causes which raise the profile of the city and it's residents, both locally and further afield.
To invite the Mayor you need to complete a booking form
Invitations should be submitted a minimum of 14 days before the event.
If you approach the Mayor directly, either by email or in person, this will not constitute a booking until it has been confirmed by the Mayor's Office.
When inviting the Mayor to attend an event or open a business, it is customary to make a donation towards the Mayor's Charity Fund. There is no minimum suggested donation, but it is assumed that this will be proportionate to the size of your business.
The Mayor has a busy schedule and it isn’t always possible to attend every event they are invited to.
If you, or someone you know, residing within Derby, is due to celebrate a 100th birthday, you can request a Civic recognition of this special occasion. In addition to this, we would be delighted to also recognise milestone wedding anniversaries (minimum of 50 years).
The person(s) celebrating their birthday/anniversary will receive either a telephone of Skype call from the Mayor and Mayoress to congratulate them.
Where possible, the Mayor and Mayoress would like to visit the person(s) to present them with a bouquet of flowers on behalf of Derby City Council, however this is dependent on availability and the individual circumstances of the person.
Nominations should be made at least six weeks prior to the birthday/anniversary date. Please use the mayoral booking form to submit a nomination.
