Check out the latest information and advice on coronavirus (COVID-19).
We understand this is an extremely worrying time for employees who are being asked to work away from home, and for customers going into business premises.
Health and safety law still applies, businesses still have a duty to ensure the health and safety of their employees, contractors, customers and members of the public. This also extends to ensuring there are controls in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus and ensure people are not exposed to the virus within their business.
This requires businesses to carry out a risk assessment and to implement controls to prevent the spread of COVID-19. These controls must include social distancing to ensure people are able to maintain a 2 metre gap whilst they are within the business premises.
By law, employees, contractors, customers and members of the public have a duty to follow the health and safety procedures put into place by a business.
The Government have issued advice for businesses in relation to social distancing, this can be viewed on the Governments coronavirus website.
If you have a concern about the health and safety within a business, please check who is the relevant enforcing authority.
