Occasional and temporary use notices

We are currently experiencing a large number of telephone calls into the service with queries.

If you need to contact us, at the moment we would appreciate an email setting out your enquiry. For general licensing matters, the email address is licensing@derby.gov.uk.

If you still feel you need to leave a telephone answer message, please note that we will prioritise your call and may not be able to respond to you if your enquiry could be resolved by visiting the website.

Occasional use notice

Where there is betting on a track for eight or less days in a calendar year, betting may be permitted by an occasional use notice without the need for a full premises licence.

A track means:

  • a horse racecourse
  • a dog track
  • any other premises or any part of a premises on which a race or other sporting event takes or is intended to take place.

The track does not have to be a permanent fixture and can be used for other purposes when not being utilised as a track.

Temporary use notice

Temporary use notices (TUN) allow the use of premises for gambling where there is no premises licence but where a gambling operator wishes to use the premises temporarily for providing facilities for gambling.

The Licensing Team is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy when you use our services.  Please view Licensing Team Privacy Notices for further information.  Printed copies are available on request.
