If you need to contact us, at the moment we would appreciate an email setting out your enquiry. For general licensing matters, the email address is licensing@derby.gov.uk.

If you still feel you need to leave a telephone answer message, please note that we will prioritise your call and may not be able to respond to you if your enquiry could be resolved by visiting the website.

Lotteries are regulated by the Gambling Act 2005 and fall into two overall definitions:

1. A simple lottery where:

  • people are required to pay to take part
  • one or more prizes are allocated to one or more participants by a process that relies wholly on chance.

2. A complex lottery where:

  • people are required to pay to take part
  • one or more prizes are allocated to one or more of the participants
  • prizes are allocated by a series of processes
  • the first of these processes relies wholly on chance.
