If you give an exhibition, demonstration or performance of hypnotism you will need to comply with the Hypnotism Act 1952 (as amended).
This requires that you obtain authorisation from us if you are giving an exhibition, demonstration or performance of hypnotism:
A separate application must be made by the person who will be carrying out the act of hypnotism for each premises/venue they intend to be used.
Permission from the owner of the premises where the activity will take place is not required as part of the application process.
Once a completed application form is received and the information has been checked the following organisations will be consulted - Derbyshire Constabulary, Derbyshire Fire Service, our Food and Safety Team will be consulted.
If there are no objections to the application, an officer of the Licensing Team can approve it. Any licence issued is subject to conditions. If there is an objection or any concern about the application, it will be referred to the Licensing Committee for a hearing of the application.
