Healthwatch

Whether it's improving them today or helping to shape them for tomorrow, local Healthwatch is all about local voices being able to influence the delivery and design of local services. Not just people who use them, but anyone who might need to in future.

Healthwatch, 2016

Healthwatch Derby is the new independent consumer champion created to gather and represent views of the residents of Derby. Insight Derby is their local intelligence newsletter and in this latest addition, they look back over the engagement exercises with the public over the period January to March 2016.

Themes emerging from the newsletter include:

  • Access to dental appointments.
  • Complaints processes at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Trust.
  • GP access concerns.
  • Concerns regarding maternity services at Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

'Your Derby' Consultation

In 2014 Healthwatch Derby, the local consumer champion for health and care, successfully completed a consultation programme with our local acute hospital – the Royal Derby.  The programme, known as the ‘Your Royal’ consultation, was undertaken over a period of three months (January to March 2014) and concentrated on areas such as the A&E Department and Children’s Hospital. Various methods were used to collect and analyse patient feedback in each setting, and some of the work was publicised in the Derby Evening Telegraph, as well as in a formal report that was presented to Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in May 2014.

The report is available to download and gives valuable insight into user perceptions of services delivered by our hospital.
