Derby City Council is urging residents who have not registered to vote at their current address to make sure they’re registered in time

On Thursday 12th December residents in Derby will take part in the UK Parliamentary Election to elect Members of Parliament for the constituencies of Derby North, Derby South and Mid-Derbyshire.

In order to vote residents must be on the electoral register.

The deadline to register to vote for this election is less than three weeks away at midnight on Tuesday 26th November and Derby City Council is urging residents who have not registered at their current address to make sure they’re registered in time.

Anyone can apply online and it takes just five minutes.  You’ll just need your national Insurance Number.

People who’ve recently moved home or have just turned 18 are particularly recommended to check to make sure they are registered, and take action if not.

Mick Styne, Electoral Services Manager for Derby City Council said:

There’s not much time to make sure you can take part in the General Election.  Elections are the perfect opportunity to make your voice heard and have a say on who represents you in Parliament.  If you’re not registered by 26 November, you won’t be able to vote this time.

If you were registered to vote in the last election and your details have not changed, you’ll still be registered to vote. If in doubt, check your details by emailing elections@derby.gov.uk or call 01332 640837.
