Derby City Council’s energy provider, RAM Energy, have created a Fuel Poverty Fund

Derby City Council’s energy provider, RAM Energy, have created a Fuel Poverty Fund to directly help residents in need towards their winter fuel bill payments.

The provision will be launched through the ring-fencing of funds, so that any surplus at the end of the financial year is transferred into the Fuel Poverty Fund for grant payments during the winter months.

Through this initiative, successful applicants in a single person household will receive a £50 credit on their energy account and those in a multiple person household will receive £100. Households may apply for the fund once each year, all applicants will also receive an energy efficiency and advice information pack to provide guidance and support for the future.

RAM Energy was set up by Derby City Council and Robin Hood Energy in October 2017 in order to bring not-for-profit energy to Derby and Midlands’s residents, particularly those who don’t typically switch energy provider regularly and therefore may not be benefiting from potentially lower-cost providers or more manageable bills. Currently, RAM Energy provides energy to around 6,000 meter points.

In early 2019, RAM Energy launched Business Energy, an offering based on local business feedback to provide the same not-for-profit service as the domestic tariffs to professional locations. Some key feedback included the need for advice on energy saving methods without affecting business performance and renewable electricity, all of which was taken into account when setting up the Business Energy division.

This offering also provides discounts for charities and schools when they switch to RAM Energy.

You can check the website for lots more information, helpful FAQ pages and to switch to RAM Energy. They have several customer testimonial videos you can watch to help you decide if RAM Energy is right for you.

Applications for the RAM Energy Fuel Poverty Fund will open 1st November 2019, forms can be completed by multiple recommending agents and additional information will be available closer to the time on the RAM Energy website.
