Local Authorities are periodically required to undergo a review of the suitability of its polling places

Local Authorities are periodically required to undergo a review of the suitability of its polling places. An initial stakeholder was held over the summer engaging with key stakeholders, such as councillors, staff, Members of Parliament, the Council’s Diversity Forums and those responsible for venues that we use currently or propose to use in future.

The review considered

  • electorate sizes
  • future housing developments that may affect the number
    of electors allocated to a polling district
  • location and suitability of the current venue
  • any alternative venues that may be more suitable
  • suitability of disability and access arrangements

The (Acting) Returning Officer has now published their Polling place review proposals including proposals to re-draw the polling districts of Derwent Ward polling alterationsChaddesden Ward polling alterationsLittleover Ward polling alterations and Mickleover Ward polling alterations. Maps relating to the changes in these areas are linked.

There is an opportunity to respond or provide feedback to us by Sunday 20th October. We welcome your feedback and comments

Responses can be submitted on our online survey site or you can send comments or representations by email to elections@derby.gov.uk or by post to Electoral Services, Council House, Corporation Street, Derby, DE1 2FS.

On Wednesday 27th November, Council will consider all the issues raised and publish its final scheme. The review outcomes will take effect from the next electoral register to be published on Sunday 1st December.
