COVID Support Officers, who have been assisting officers from the Food and Safety team since December, are continuing their work to support the recovery with the introduction of a COVID Secure poster campaign to recognise compliant businesses and those with good practices and encourage consumer confidence in their shopping experience.

Venues that have demonstrated consistently high standards of controls within their premises will be awarded with a distinctive window sticker to display for customers, giving them that reassurance that they can shop safely.

Any retail businesses that is interested in the scheme can request a visit by contacting the COVID Support Officers through the Food and Safety team

One venue to receive their COVID secure poster already is Derby bus station following a surprise inspection from the COVID Support Officers and Environmental Health team.

The bus station team are also being put forward for an award for the quality information and guidance provided to customers

Sam Dennis, Director of Communities and Place said:

I’m really very proud of the work the teams are doing to help and support businesses in the city. Helping and advising when things aren’t quite right and now going that extra step to help customers feel safe and secure when visiting shops in the city.

We’d love all the businesses to get in touch and get involved to demonstrate that we are all doing everything we can to provide a safe and secure shopping experience.
