The Council applied to the Joint Air Quality Unit (Department of Environment Food & Rural Affairs & Department of Transport) for funding to cover a scoping study. The study looks at the options and requirements for CAZ, following a requirement from Government to introduce a chargeable access restriction, as part of the CAZ, in the city by 2020.
The scoping study will cover the evidence collection for the baseline data both in terms of air quality and traffic data, transport and air quality modelling and scoping of options. The project will support the Council in better understanding air quality issues and will help inform any future decisions regarding CAZ and other potential supporting measures.
In addition, further funding has been sought through the Air Quality Grant Programme for supporting measures (see announcement below)
