A52 off-slip road and roundabout opening - Monday 9th September

From Monday 9th September, drivers will benefit from a new third lane on the westbound carriageway between the Raynesway on-slip and Wyvern, and the opening of the improved realigned slip road.

Both the Derwent Parade and Stanier Way roundabouts will also be open with single lane traffic around the circulatory.

Whilst improvement works continue on site, there will be no right turn from Wyvern Way into Pullman Road and the Sidings for vehicles travelling from the A52 eastbound due to the concrete barriers that are in place to segregate the road. Drivers will need to proceed to Derwent Parade island. Depending on traffic flow, there may be temporary two-way traffic lights in place at the Pullman Road and Wyvern Way junction.

Night-time closures on A52 Brian Clough Way between 9th September and 17th September 2019

This phase of work, which includes surfacing of the A52, will need to be carried out whilst the road is closed during the night time. This means we have a limited amount of time to do the work. Some of this work will be noisy but we will minimise the noise where possible.

  • Closures in place on the A52 Eastbound, out of Derby, will include the Eastgate flyover, Pentagon slip road and the Wyvern Way slip roads.

The road will be re-opened earlier if works are completed ahead of the scheduled times.

Signed diversion routes will be in place along Derby Road/Nottingham Road (A6005).

Stanier Way/Wyvern Way Roundabout

Work took place during the morning of Friday 9th August to change the traffic management at the Stanier Way roundabout. Traffic was switched to run on a section of the newly constructed roundabout.  Changes have also been made to the pedestrian route between Stanier Way and Wyvern Way.

Further changes were made on 27th August to get ready for the re-opening the roundabout on 9th September 2019.

Wyvern – A52 Westbound on and off slip road closures

Recent work to demolish Meadow Lane Footbridge, which links Chaddesden to the Wyvern and Pride Park areas, was completed successfully and ahead of schedule.  Now that the footbridge has been demolished, the next phase will involve works in the area near the Derwent Parade roundabout.  As well as needing the space to build the replacement footbridge, work will also take place to realign the slip roads between Wyvern and the A52 Westbound. There will also be changes to the roundabout at the junction of Derwent Parade and Wyvern Way, with temporary traffic lights on Wyvernside, Wyvern Way and Derwent Parade.  Between June and September there will be an intensified programme of work to take full advantage of the summer period when peak time traffic levels are typically reduced by up to 30%.

From Monday 3rd June 2019, the Wyvern/A52 - Westbound slip roads will be closed. Vehicles travelling to and from Wyvern/Pride Park will need to follow the signed diversion routes. A52-Wyvern_Slip_Road_Diversion_Plan

Meadow Lane Footbridge

Meadow Lane Footbridge has now been demolished. The replacement bridge is expected to be opened in Spring 2020.

Diversion route for pedestrians

During the closure, pedestrians will be able to use the Highfield Lane footbridge, where diversions will be in place along Chequers Road and Wyvernside. A temporary pedestrian crossing has been installed on Wyvern Way to assist crossing to the Wyvern and Stanier Way Business Park.
