Online resources

This is where you can find free online resources and courses to help support you on your parenting journey.

HABIT

The Leeds School of Dentistry has created a website called HABIT for parents to support them in looking after their baby's teeth. Toothbrushing needs to start as soon as a first tooth appears which will then develop into a natural habit. The website contains useful videos, interesting food activities and some great helpful tips.

52 Things to do before you’re 5

52 Things to do before you’re 5 is a pack of fun activities which are free or low-cost that parents and children under 5 can do together.

Better Health – Start for Life

Words for Life

Words for Life is brought to you by the National Literacy Trust. All of the content has been designed to provide parents, children and young people with activities and support to improve their language, literacy and communication skills from home.

Tiny Happy People

The Solihull Approach

Relationships shape who we are and are especially important in our early years. This is because our brains and the building blocks for our emotional health, are shaped by everything we absorb from our environment and develop most rapidly in the first two years of life.  The Solihull Approach can support this development. It is about emotional health and wellbeing support for all children, parents, carers and grandparents through many free online courses and resources.

The Solihull Approach has a website called 'inourplace' where you can get parenting advice all through pregnancy alongside the Start for life programme. You can get guidance on your child’s physical and mental health to help improve relationships from even before they are born.

This service is for Derby city families and professionals only. The courses and website can be translated into the parents’ choice of language. Derby’s Family Hubs will also offer some face-to-face workshops.

More information, including how to register and access the online courses and resources can be found on the inourplace/Derby website. Use the access code: MARKEATON to sign up for free.

This video explains the Solihull Approach and its training in emotional health and wellbeing for children.
