License fees scam

There have been reports of individuals posing as licensing officials and demanding immediate payment for licensing fees. Derby City Council licensing officers will never do this. Make sure you verify who the licensing officer is claiming to be.

Regulations require the producers of electrical and electronic items to provide a network of locations to accept items for recycling when they become waste. The easiest way to find your nearest recycling point is by visiting: www.recycleyourelectricals.org.uk/.

Avoid products marketed as disposable. Instead use refillable products, which can be used again and again. Ask your retailer about any return to store recycling schemes they offer. 

Please do not dispose of batteries or anything containing batteries in your wheelie bins at home. Fires can be started by these items when crushed in the refuse collection vehicles or at waste treatment facilities as waste is processed.
