Tattoos, skin piercing, electrolysis, acupuncture and microblading registration
We are currently experiencing a large number of telephone calls into the service with queries.
If you need to contact us, at the moment we would appreciate an email setting out your enquiry. For general licensing matters, the email address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you still feel you need to leave a telephone answer message, please note that we will prioritise your call and may not be able to respond to you if your enquiry could be resolved by visiting the website.
You must register with us if you carry out any of the following procedures at your premises:
- cosmetic piercing (body piercing)
- semi-permanent make up including microblading
- any other invasive treatments.
You must complete the Piercing - premises registration form to register your business and send this with the correct payment
You must complete the Piercing - personal registration form to register each member of staff who carries out treatments and send this with the correct payment.
Once we receive the registration form and fee an officer will contact you to arrange to carry out a health and safety inspection for your premises.
Our licensing payments page explains what fees apply and how to pay them. If you have paid by debit/credit card or by Bacs before you have submitted your application form then you must include a copy of your receipt with the application. Any application received without the payment will not be processed.
There are costs for registration of:
- business premises
- each person registered to carry out the treatment.
Following the health and safety inspection, we will issue certificates to you to confirm that you have registered both the premises and the people carrying out the treatment. These must be displayed in your premises to make customers aware that your business complies with health and safety legislation.
The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health has published a Tattooing and body piercing guidance: Toolkit on how to provide safe and hygienic tattooing and body piercing practices.
