Christmas is nearly here, so it’s time to check when bin collections will take place

Christmas is nearly here, so it’s time to check when bin collections will take place over the festive seasons as there will be some changes.

The service will be taking a break between Wednesday 25th December and Thursday 2nd January. We will be operating a revised collection schedule which includes some earlier or later collections.

The quickest and easiest way to see your bin day is to use our bin day look-up tool which shows your next eight collections. We’ll also be attaching a tag to your bin to let you know about changes over the festive period, so keep an eye out for this.

After Christmas excess

When collections start again in January, we will collect extra waste and recycling along with your black and blue bins for the first two weeks of collections only.

Take a look at our top tips for reducing waste over Christmas to make more room in your bins. Don’t forget, any food waste can be recycled in your brown bin.

For your first blue bin day in January (recycling bin), you may leave extra boxes or clear plastic bags of recyclable materials. We recommend using the extra space for paper and cardboard, and making sure there is enough room in your wheelie bin for any glass you wish to recycle. Please ensure the bags or boxes are open/loosely tied so the collection team can see the contents.

To save room, please collapse any cardboard boxes you put in your recycling, and squash all cartons and plastic bottles.

For your first black bin day in January (general waste bin), you can leave up to three extra bags of waste out for us to collect. Please ensure that it is properly bagged.

Over the holidays, you can take any excess recycling and waste to Raynesway Household Waste and Recycling Centre.
