Resurfacing work on Ascot Drive and Osmaston Road

The resurfacing work is due to finish on Sunday 23rd June, and will take place form 8 am till 10 pm
From Monday, work will start to resurface the junction of Ascot Drive and Osmaston Road, this will complement the cycle improvements that are currently being installed, alongside new traffic signals, pedestrian crossing facilities and resurfaced footways. Over 3,000sqm of road surface will be resurfaced and new road markings will be laid.
The resurfacing work is due to finish on Sunday 23rd June, and will take place form 8.00am in the morning up and till 10.00pm, if necessary. It spans from the new kerbing work on Osmaston Road and down to the Fire Station entrance on Ascot Drive. Provision has been made for emergency vehicles.
Councillor Jonathan Smale, Cabinet Member for Communities, Neighbourhoods and Streetpride, said:
We understand the work will cause some disruption and we are working to a very tight programme. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding and hope that you agree this improvement work is long overdue and is very much needed.
For most of the work, Ascot Drive will be closed. This is the safest and most efficient way to carry out this work. Access to Ascot Drive will be from London Road and a signed diversion route will be in place. Access to businesses on Thirsk Place will be maintained but access may be easier using Whitehurst Street and Harvey Road. Exiting will still be on Ascot Drive, because part of Thirsk Place is one-way.
Osmaston Road will have temporary two way lights in place. The temporary traffic lights should come off Osmaston Road at the end of each working day, depending on the site being safe to do so, if not they will remain.
Bus companies have been informed about this and they will update their customers of any change to their services. Bin collection will run as usual, so please put your bin out on the normal day.
The work will be completed by Thomas Bow Ltd, on behalf of Derby City Council.
