Financial help is available for residents and businesses that have been impacted by flooding

Financial help is available for residents and businesses that have been directly impacted by flooding – specifically, if water has entered your property or there has been a similar impact from landslides, mud. Gardens, sheds and garages are not included in this.

These funds are not intended to replace or compensate for ‘building or contents’ insurance but is aimed at providing immediate financial relief to help you deal with the stress and hardship that has been caused by flooding.

Residents

Government is making funding available through the Community Recovery Grant to help communities with their immediate recovery and up to £500 will be available for those household that have been directly affected. Further details will be made available by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Foundation Derbyshire (which covers Derby) has been receiving financial donations from members of the public who are keen to help support Derbyshire communities. A grant of up to £200 is available for households that have been directly affected by the recent floods. You can apply for the flooding grant on the Foundation Derbyshire website.

Local businesses

In response to the flood, Derby City Council is offering a hardship fund up to £300 for businesses across the city, to help with actions following the flood, such as hiring drying equipment.

In addition to emergency funding support, help and advice can be sought from D2N2 Growth Hub with business advisors available to provide further support needed to aid recovery. The local Chamber of Commerce is also able to provide advice and support, including free membership.

Government is also making funding available for small to medium enterprises (those up to 250 employees). An average of £2,500 is available through the Business Recovery Grant, aimed at businesses that have been flooded or directly impacted by the flooding. Financial support for farmers is being made separately and also for large businesses (those over 250 employees). Please note that the deadline for applications to this is Friday 10th January 2020. All affected businesses should have received a hard copy of the application forms directly. If not, please contact Michael Kay, Head of Emergency Planning, via email or telephone 01332 641940.
