Livewell client of the month - Leonard Willmott

Achieving their dream weight is reason enough for our clients to be awarded client of the month. It’s no surprise then that advisor, Casey nominated her client, Leonard for tripling his 3-month weight loss target to scoop our December accolade. 

Since joining Livewell in August, the 54-year-old milkman from Mackworth has shed over 1.5 stone and 10% of his body weight.

Being slimmer for his daughter’s wedding in April 2022 is behind Leonard’s motivation to shed the pounds and be a lighter, healthier version of himself.

Leonard said:

My partner, Sue joined Livewell in April and I could see she was enjoying getting fitter through swimming and the gym. With my daughter’s big day on the horizon, I decided it was a good time for me to change too so I started the Livewell’s meetings in August at Coniston Crescent in Breadsall with five other new clients, which felt more comfortable as we were all in the same position.

I got stuck into the healthy eating advice straight away and joined Sue to make better choices - ditching whole packets of biscuits and serving up more sensible portion sizes. I never bothered with fruit much before but now we eat a much wider variety and the fibre keeps us feeling full. 

Making exercise part of my weekly routine means I not only stick to it but I enjoy it too. I head to the gym at Derby Arena twice a week and walk the dog in Markeaton Park most days. It’s something we enjoy together when we’re not working opposite shifts.

The support of the Livewell team helps keep me on track. It’s nice to have a chat and get a question answered at the weigh-ins and Casey gives me lots of encouragement and great advice.  I’m looking forward to catching up with the rest of my group at our first review soon.

Since joining Livewell my job has become more physically demanding - I regularly clock 15-16 thousand steps a day with the extra walking. I couldn’t have managed this the way I was before so I’m grateful the changes I’ve made have meant I can do it.

Physically I feel so much better and have more energy. My daughter is already proud of what I’ve achieved but I’m determined to make her prouder when I walk her down the aisle next spring.

Leonard joined Livewell with an open mind and is very happy to contribute to our group sessions. Since the activations have finished, he has taken on board the advice offered and got stuck straight in with the gym and walking more and changing some of his dietary habits. He has done exceptionally well to lose 10% of his bodyweight already and one of the key things he has done is to come and get weighed regularly at our weigh-in appointments, helping him to stay on track.
