Derby Arena will not host the election count this year.

Derby City Council has announced that the May 2021 Local and Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) election counts will not be held in Derby Arena.

The Arena has been home to the elections counts for a number of years, however this year, Derby Arena is playing its part in the fight against coronavirus and the Council is searching for alternative locations.

Emily Feenan, Derby City Council’s Returning Officer said:

The vaccination programme has been a hugely positive step in our efforts to reduce cases of COVID in the city, and indeed across the UK.

Since the Arena was earmarked as a vaccination centre last year, we knew that there would be a crossover with local and PCC elections.

The Government confirmed in February that the 2021 local and PCC elections would go ahead, and since then our officers have been working to determine alternative count locations, to allow the vaccination centre to remain open and administering vaccinations.

A count venue has not yet been confirmed, however conversations with a number of potential venues are ongoing.

UPDATE; 18TH MARCH 2021

It has been confirmed today (18th March 2021) that the 2021 Election Count will be held at Powerleague Derby, at Pride Park Stadium.
