Trilogy of tribute artists to join a busy Spring of entertainment at Derby Arena

The Spring event line-up has some new additions

Derby Arena is the place to be this Spring for music lovers as three tribute shows are added to the programme.

Kicking off the three events is The Elvis World Tour which makes a welcome return to Derby Arena as it Jailhouse Rocks into to town on Saturday 13 May. Direct from the USA, the most successful Elvis tribute show stars three winners of Elvis Presley Enterprises’ Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest: Shawn Klush, Dean Z and Ben Thompson. Together, the three talented performers will bring audiences an unmissable evening bound to make you believe Elvis is well and truly in the building.

Tribute star Shawn Klush is best known for being crowned ‘The World's Greatest Elvis' live on BBC One. Not one to sit back, after this Shawn then went on to be crowned as the first ever ‘Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Champion' in Memphis, Tennessee. Fellow American Dean Z has been regarded as the world’s most exciting Elvis performer as he brings the 1968 Comeback Special to life on stage in his show. He also won the prestigious ‘EPE Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist’ Contest in 2013. Completing the line-up is ‘Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Champion’ Ben Thompson, who won the 2018 contest. Ben treats audiences to a trip down memory lane as he recreates the exciting early years of Elvis live on stage.

From the 60’s, we’re now taking you to the 80’s as Fastlove, the George Michael tribute, comes to Derby Arena on Saturday 20 May. With a brand-new show for 2023, even if you have seen this production before you’re not going to want to miss the new material! Direct from London’s West End, this is the world’s favourite George Michael celebration, so get ready to be transported to Club Tropicana and beyond to make new memories whilst reliving all the classics.

This fan-favourite has it all with the power, emotion, and star quality of George himself, along with a full video and light show to tantalise audiences as we respectfully recreate the soundtrack to your life. So, grab your leather jackets and get ready to experience the famous eras one of the greatest musicians the world has ever seen, with all the hits from Wham! Right through George’s glittering career. These include Wake Me Up, Too Funky, Father Figure, Freedom, Faith, Knew You Were Waiting, Careless Whisper and many more. The journey through the musical eras continues with the third instalment of our tribute trilogy when Thank You For the Music, the ultimate tribute to ABBA comes to Derby. Get ready to be transported to the 70s where these Dancing Queens will take to the Derby Arena stage on Friday 26 May to celebrate the longevity of ABBA’s career and say Thank You For the Music. This international smash-hit tribute show brings all ABBA’s number one hits to the stage in a production like no other. Now in its 20th year, the show has been adapted for 2023 and will bring audiences a combination of the unmistakable harmonies, colourful costumes, and dazzling performances by our all-star cast. Grab your friends and join us for the party of the year as we bring you all the hits including Waterloo, Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia and many more! These three performances will join That’ll Be The Day (Friday 19 May), Jimmy Carr: Terribly Funny 2.0 (Sunday 21 May) and Magic of Motown (Saturday 27 May) which are also appearing at Derby Arena during the jam-packed Spring season.
