“With over 18 million vehicles using the road each year, the A52 Wyvern Transport Improvement Scheme is a key infrastructure project for our city, which will bring significant benefits to a congested part of Derby’s principal road network, offering improved access to the city and supporting wider economic growth.

Since our last update, significant progress has been made in relation to the scheme design. Substantive revised designs are now with the contractor for pricing, and work continues at pace to programme the delivery of the outstanding elements of the project.

Meanwhile, recent work to complete the central reservation barrier finished on time, and road users will now benefit from three lanes being open on the eastbound carriageway between The Wyvern and Raynesway junctions.

I would like to emphasise that both the Council and Contractor are focussed on reaching an agreed robust scheme cost estimate and work programme as quickly as possible, so that we can move forward with significant purpose in the coming months and deliver the full benefits for the citizens of Derby”.
