Healthy Babies offer

What is the Health Babies offer

In Derby, we believe that every baby deserves the best start in life and we know how important those early stages are. Working together with our voluntary, community, health and council services, we can provide you and your baby with the best possible support. This support is called our 'Start for Life' offer that is available to parents, carers and their babies from pregnancy to 2 years.

Infant CPR - Rowan's Rule

Trigger Warning: This video contains information about baby loss

Derby Family Hub has collaborated with the Pepper Family to co-produce an Infant CPR Film to support @Rowan’sRule.

We encourage you to watch this three-minute film so that, if you ever need it, you know how to perform infant CPR. The film includes a step-by-step guide on what to do if your baby stops breathing and features a neo-natal midwife who demonstrates each step.

We are proud to be the first Family Hub in the country to be a partner of Rowan's Rule and will continue to support the Pepper family with sharing their message.

This film was co-produced with the Pepper family and filmed by Lo&Behold Creative.

Shaping your baby’s development

Our early childhoods, the time from pregnancy to five, fundamentally shape our whole lives. Around one in three (36%) adults report knowing just a little or nothing about how children develop in their early childhood. The Centre for Early Childhood’s short video called Layla’s story demonstrates how and why our early childhood shapes the adults we become:

Eamon McCrory, Professor of Developmental Neuroscience and Psychopathology at University College London, explains why early childhood brain development is so fundamental to our future lives.
