Flood risk asset register
Under Section 21 of the Flood and Water Management Act (2010) we, as the Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA), are required to establish and maintain a register of structures or features which, in our opinion, are likely to have a significant effect on flood risk in their area. We are required to keep a record of information about each of those structures or features, including information about ownership and state of repair. This is known as the Asset Register.
Features that we have on the Asset Register include, but are not limited to:
- culverts
- pipes
- pumping stations
- trash screens
- flood defence structures
- gullies.
We have been working over several years to gather, update and maintain information on drainage assets not only for the purposes of this legislation but also to assist us in prioritising maintenance operations. It should be noted that the Asset register is an ongoing project which will continue to be updated and improved.
Members of the public can request to view the Asset Register by contacting our Projects, Water and Flood Risk Management Team at flooddefence@derby.gov.uk.
Please note that inclusion of a feature on the Asset Register does not necessarily give that feature any additional priority in terms of maintenance and flood risk management and the feature may not even be owned and/or maintained by us.
