Our Pledge: Kinship care
- We will show you how to contact your social worker. We will tell you who to contact if things go wrong and what to do if you need urgent help.
- We will support you to provide a safe place for children or young person to live with you. We want children and young people to know that they are safe, protected, valued and can trust those caring for them.
- We will encourage and support you to participate in the assessment process and provide you with information to make safe decisions.
- If you need someone to talk to, this includes at evenings and weekends, we will make sure you know who to call.
- We will respect you for who you are. We will respect your diversity and heritage
- We will help you to access all the services you need to help you keep you and the child or young person healthy and safe, both physically and emotionally.
- We will guide you in supporting the child or young person’s education.
- We will help you to understand all your rights, including any legal rights both during the assessment and for the future.
- We will always be here to listen to you and offer you advice and guidance. We will explore with you and make sure all plans in place are completed with consultation with you and the child or young person, making sure your views and voices are at the forefront of all decision making.
- We will regularly seek feedback from you to make sure we are offering the best service to you and make changes where things can be done better.
