Chapel Street Arts Centre will throw open its doors to welcome the community for a day of dance, creativity and discovery for all ages.

The free event takes place on Saturday 7 March from 10am until 2pm. Visitors can explore the building and experience workshops, performances and creative activities.

Across the day, artists and instructors at Chapel Street Arts Centre will lead tasters and workshops, giving everyone the chance to watch, join in and have a go.

The programme will feature a range of 30-minute taster dance classes and workshops for children and adults of all abilities, including aerial, musical theatre jazz, ballet, street dance and Flamenco.

There will be workshops in the auditorium, where you can have a go at sessions on stage combat, or try your hand at lighting and sound.

Councillor Nadine Peatfield, Leader of Derby City Council and Cabinet Member for City Centre, Regeneration, Strategy and Policy, said:

We are incredibly excited to share the vibrant energy of Chapel Street Arts Centre with everyone. Whether you’re looking to try something new, find a class, or simply explore the building, this is an open invitation to drop in.

We want the whole community to feel like this is their space to create, play, and discover something new.

Alongside the workshops and classes, there will be performances from Hubbub Theatre and Derby College.

The café and bar will be open, hosting activities aimed at those with an interest in arts, theatre and dance. You can also meet artists and cultural organisations who use Chapel Street Arts Centre, and browse pop-up information stalls running throughout the day.

No booking is required and all the activities are free. For more information on Chapel Street Arts Centre, head to the website.
