Members of Derby City Council’s planning team will be in the Ordish Room at Derby Market Hall on Saturday 21 February, ready to answer your questions about the new Local Plan for Derby.

This drop-in session forms part of the ongoing consultation, which you can fill in on the Let’s Talk Derby website.

This session is a chance  to get a greater understanding of the local plan from the team that developed it. They will be on hand to answer questions and help with completing the consultation.

The new plan, extending to 2043, proposes 12,500 new homes, with at least 5,500 earmarked for the city centre. Developments are also planned for Littleover, Chaddesden, Spondon, and Mickleover.

To accommodate this growth, strategic partnerships with South Derbyshire and Amber Valley District Councils will allow some homes to be delivered within their boundaries.

130 hectares of land are designated for employment at key sites like Infinity Park Derby, while a retail-led regeneration strategy aims to rejuvenate the city centre, enhancing its appeal for residents and visitors.

Councillor Shiraz Khan, Cabinet Member for Housing, Strategic Planning and Regulatory Services

If you’ve got comments on the proposed local plan, or are curious about what it all means, join us at the Ordish Room. This session is the perfect chance to drop in and discuss how you think our city should develop over the coming decades.

The Local Plan is a vital planning document that sets out our policies for housing and employment growth. Given the significance of this document, we want to make sure it reflects what the people of Derby want, so it’s important for you to have your say.

The consultation runs until Monday 9 March. Anyone can have their say on the Let’s Talk Derby website.
