Derby Market Hall will be a premier destination for local food lovers with the launch of a new monthly farmers’ market. Starting on Sunday 25 January, the event will champion the very best growers, producers, and independent food traders from across the city and surrounding areas.

Organised in collaboration with Derby Uncovered, the markets are designed to bring the community together in the heart of the city. Shoppers can expect a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere filled with fresh seasonal produce, artisanal foods, and unique flavours that highlight the rich agricultural heritage of the region.

While visiting the farmers’ market, shoppers can also explore the diverse range of permanent local traders based within the Market Hall and check out the vibrant street food dining area, café and bars, making it the perfect spot for a meal, coffee or weekend tipple while browsing.

Whether visitors are looking for high-quality ingredients for the week ahead or simply a relaxing day out with family and friends, the Market Hall provides an inviting hub for the community.

Councillor Nadine Peatfield, Leader of Derby City Council and Cabinet Member for City Centre, Regeneration, Strategy and Policy, said:

We are thrilled to bring the very best of our local produce to the heart of the city. This collaboration with Derby Uncovered provides a modern twist on the heritage of our Victorian Market Hall, honouring its rich history by reintroducing the traditional market elements that the community loves.

Part of our ethos has always been to champion the amazing independent traders who make our region unique, and this new monthly farmers’ market continues to build on that commitment – bringing our historic space up to date for a modern audience.

David Turner, from Derby Uncovered, said:

We’re delighted and excited to be working alongside the fantastic Derby Market Hall team on the farmers’ markets that are planned throughout 2026.

With the 160th anniversary of the Market Hall fast approaching, it’s a pleasure to be able to play a part in bringing the very best of local producers to such an iconic venue.

The first Derby Farmers’ Market launches on Sunday 25 January from 10am until 3pm. For more details and all the dates for 2026, visit the Derby Market Hall website.
