Purpose of data collection
We collect and use your personal information to support the Council's democratic and civic functions. This includes councillor casework, committee meetings, school admission appeals, public questions and petitions, complaints, civic events, the Mayor's office, and maintaining public records where required by law.

- details of enquiries, appeals, complaints or petitions
- information relating to civic events
- images/audio/video from public meetings where applicable.
How data is used
- respond to enquiries raised with councillors
- administer committee meetings and democratic processes
- process school admission appeals
- manage petitions and public questions
- investigate complaints about councillors
- organise civic events and Mayoral engagements
- publish agendas, reports, minutes and recordings where required
- meet statutory duties.
Sharing of data
We may share information with relevant Council services, councillors, committee members, independent panel members, government departments, the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman, and the public where information forms part of public meetings. We never sell your information or use it for marketing as we only share the minimum amount of information required and ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data.
Your rights
- Access: You can ask for copies of your personal information held by the Council.
- Rectification: You can request corrections to any incorrect information.
- Deletion: You can ask for your personal information to be deleted, unless there's a legal reason to keep it.
- Portability: You can request your personal data to be transferred to other services or directly to you.
- Object/Restrict Processing: You can object to or limit how your data is used now and in the future.
