Grove Street Mobility Hub

We want to make local businesses aware of a new mobility hub which will soon be installed into the Grove Street car park.

The mobility hub will provide the community with a range of sustainable travel methods and support Derby City Council’s Active Travel Strategy. This is also an opportunity for the Council to learn more about any potential transport challenges and issues, helping us to better understand your community’s transport needs.

As well as making improvements to the car park, the hub will include:

  • electric vehicle (EV) charging and dedicated EV parking
  • bike corral (installed in the summer 2024)
  • interactive information totem with live travel updates
  • enterprise car club vehicle pending usage analysis.

The installation of the new EV chargers will result in minimal reduction to the existing number of parking spaces available and will allow your customers greater flexibility about how they travel to and from the area.

Our  Future Transport team will be holding a community engagement event on Tuesday 17 December from 11am until 3pm. The team will be on hand to answer any questions, share further information about the hub and discuss plans for other hubs planned around the city.

The e-mobility hub will be funded by the Department for Transport (DFT)’s Future Transport Zones Fund, which was awarded to Derby City Council to trial new and exciting developments in transport.

Work to install the hub will begin in spring 2025 and will be completed within a few months. We will do our best to keep the car park open during this period, however for health and safety reasons, parts of the car park will be cordoned off whilst the works are carried out. To allow for the delivery of equipment to site, the car park will be temporarily closed for short periods. Once work has been completed, the hub will be trialled and regularly monitored

If you would like more information, email the Future Transport Zones team at traffic.management@derby.gov.uk.
