Referenda
The purpose of a referendum is to establish a public response to one or more questions.
There have been two UK-wide referenda:
- 5 May 2011 - to decide the UK Parliamentary voting system.
- 1975 - to decide whether or not the UK should remain a member of the European Community.
All eligible voters can take part in a referendum, as long as they are included in the Register of Electors at the time of the referendum.
