Living in Fostercare booklet
The Living in Fostercare booklet is written for foster children and young people. It is designed give an insight on what our fostering service can do to keep children safe and happy. Sometimes it's helpful for children and foster carers to go through this together.
Fosterline
Fosterline is a free Government funded helpline. It's been set up to provide confidential and impartial advice to current and prospective foster carers in England.
The helpline 0800 040 7656 is open to anybody in England free of charge.

Spare bedroom tax
Under the Welfare Reform’s new rules on spare bedrooms, approved foster carers will be allowed an extra bedroom for fostering purposes. You’ll need to have already fostered a child or be approved as a foster carer to be eligible. Please visit our Welfare Reform page for more details.
Friends and Family Policy
This guidance provides a summary of Derby’s policy and procedures regarding Family and Friends Care. Its primary aim is to give information about the various legal options open to family and friends carers. How family and friends carers can be supported and where they can access additional advice and support from organisations that specialise in supporting families.
