Fostering is an enriching and rewarding experience for you, your family and the children you will care for.
Derby City Council urgently needs foster carers to provide care, support and a loving home to the city’s most vulnerable children.
There are hundreds of children in Derby who cannot be looked after by their own family and you could make a real difference to their lives.
Whilst we are looking for people to care for all types of children, we particularly need foster carers who can look after sibling groups, children with disabilities and children age 5 and above.
If you are caring, energetic and have the space for a child, we believe you could become an amazing foster carer, and we will support you each step of the way.

The 2022 fostering film ‘Childhood’, highlights the impact of neglect on children, particularly brothers and sisters who may be left at times to try and care for each other.
The 2021 fostering film ‘Out There’, highlights the ways fostering can make a difference to the lives of everyone involved, from the children and young people who live with foster carers, to those who come forward to care for them.
