Feedback: Kinship care

You probably don’t even realise how much this talk has helped me today; you have brightened up my day and I am very grateful. I often forget to think about the reasons why the behaviours happen. It was very helpful to hear what was said as it put things into perspective and made a lot of sense.

I had a better level of understanding and experience in understanding trauma due to my work experiences however I still found this to be challenging. No one can truly understand how this feels unless they have walked this path.

In terms of kinship carers, I would advise that nothing can truly prepare you for the experience you are entering, and this could be the most challenging but rewarding experience of your life.

I was hesitant of the intrusion of undergoing assessment for SGO would bring… I encountered nothing but professionalism from my assessing social worker and truly felt listened to and supported.
