Pupils at St George’s Catholic Voluntary Academy were recently joined for lunch by Councillors Paul Hezelgrave and Alison Martin. The visit was part of a wider celebration highlighting the dedication of school catering teams across the county and the united effort by partners to ensure every child has access to healthy, balanced, and locally-sourced meals every day.
Visits took place at schools across the region to showcase the strength of the partnership between Derbyshire Catering Service, local authorities including Derby City Council, and trusted local suppliers like Holdsworth Foods and John Palin Fresh Produce Ltd.
Together, they are committed to supporting children’s health and learning through high-quality nutrition.
At St George’s Catholic Voluntary Academy in Derby, Councillor Hezelgrave and Councillor Martin were accompanied by Public Health Manager Andrew White.
Councillor Hezelgrave, Derby City Council Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Skills, said:

Councillor Martin, Derby City Council Cabinet Member for Health & Adult Care, added:
School meals are more than just food; they are a vital investment in a child's health, providing the energy and nutrition they need for their healthy development and to support their learning in the classroom.
