Community

Neighbourhoods service

Neighbourhood teams work across all of Derby’s communities and can provide support to members of the armed forces community. Neighbourhood Officers and Local Area Coordinators work closely with Derby Homes and the Royal British Legion to assist members of the community moving into the area, providing support for the challenges that can arise from resettlement and social isolation.

Each team works closely with local councillors, residents, community groups and other services. To get in touch with your local neighbourhood team, visit the Neighbourhoods service webpages.

Support for veterans and their families

Derby City Council works closely with several organisations to help connect veterans and their families with appropriate support:

  • Derbyshire Ex-Servicemen’s Association (Derby & Ex) – providing advocacy, camaraderie, and local support for veterans. Contact: Ralph Eales by email at reales@hotmail.co.uk or call 07771 765021.
  • War Memorial Village Derby – A dedicated community offering housing and welfare support for ex-service personnel and their families. Visit the War Memorial Village website.
  • Royal British Legion – Delivering a wide range of national welfare services including financial assistance, mental health support, and casework. Visit the RBL Derbyshire website.

These organisations play a vital role in upholding our city’s ongoing duty of care to those who have served.
